The Legacy Art Gallery & Café on Yates Street in downtown Victoria is a contemporary gallery, café & gift shop. Located on the University campus, The Maltwood Art Museum & Gallery will reopen March 2011 and the McPherson Library Gallery will reopen November 2010 with new works on paper.

Prince and Princess Abkhazi selected architect John Wade to design their
Modernist 1947 home atop a natural rock formation, around which they
created their famous world class garden. The property boasts an
established Garry Oak and rhododendron woodland garden, three ponds and
an exquisite variety of plant material.

The Government House grounds embrace 36 acres, including a rare Garry Oak ecosystem, and formal gardens. All formal gardens are wheelchair accessible and are maintained thanks to the time and expertise of dedicated volunteers. The grounds are open daily to the public from dawn to dusk, free of charge.

Helmcken House-Royal BC Museum

Dr. Helmcken, a surgeon with the Hudson’s Bay Company, set up house in Victoria when he married the daughter of Governor James Douglas in 1852. He went on to negotiate the entry of BC into Canada. His medical kit is among the interesting items on display. Nearby is St Ann’s Schoolhouse, built 1844.

Hours: Noon to 4 pm, mid-June to mid-September (except in 2011)

Point Ellice House

Built in 1861, this house was the O’Reilly family home for three generations. Over 10,000 artifacts are displayed, giving us a picture of family life in the 1890-1920 period. Gardens originally planted in the 1880s are currently being restored.

Ross Bay Villa - TLC of BC

Located across from historic Ross Bay Cemetery, Ross Bay Villa is a
modest but now rare Gothic Revival 1860s colonial house with restored
period rooms and gardens. Frank Roscoe, a Member of Parliament for
Victoria from 1874-78, and his family, were the first to move into the
home in 1864.

St. Ann’s Academy Historic Site

Do you need a brochure? We've include one here for your convenience so be sure to print it and keep it with you. If you prefer they are also available at member sites and the Visitor Information Centre across from the Empress Hotel on the inner Harbour.

For those of you planning your visit to Victoria we have included two itineraries here to help. One for Castles and Gardens tours and one for Schools and Military/Naval tours. The starting point for all itineraries is the Royal British Columbia Museum at 675 Belleville Street, corner of Belleville and Government, on the Inner Harbour between the Fairmont Empress and the Parliament Buildings. Please contact individual sites for hours and tour times before heading to your destination. Some sites are not open all year or have shorter winter hours.
